Reading

I woke up early this morning.  Not early enough that I could get back to sleep a bit later, but early enough that I wasn't going to get back to sleep.

So I started the morning routine.  And got to the part about finding out what kind of trouble was in the email this morning.  And I couldn't sign on to Fakebook.  Or LinkeDin.  And I couldn't get the new email to come in.  Basically no Internet.

So I checked the TV, since they both come from the same source and wire.  And the TV was on, for a bit, and then it wasn't.  So I pulled up my cell phone, which has data from a different provider, and still couldn't seem to get anything.

So I hauled out my book, and started to read.

Now, I have mentioned before that, since Gloria died, I have had problems reading.  Which is strange, since I have read, voraciously, all my life.  I've been working on it, but I have to be careful about the books I choose.

The one that I've got on the go is not an author I'm familiar with, but it's a decent read, a murder mystery, set in Ireland, with a female cop.  The details and insights into the relationships between the characters is interesting.  So, even though the thing is 700 pages long, I figure it was possible.

So, this morning, I've got nothing else I can do until the provider fixes whatever problem they have caused, and so I'm reading, with no distractions.  And I realize that I'm still having problems.

I'm getting tired.  The reading is tiring.  And I realize that I've been having this problem for a while now.

Whatever the root cause of my problem with reading is, there is now the added problem of my total lack of energy.  And it's gotten to the point where it is now difficult to read.  I'm going to have to be even *more* careful about the books I choose, because I'm not going to have the energy for many of them.

(No wonder I'm watching way too many Hallmark movies.  They are completely undemanding, and require no energy.)

I really don't mind dying by degrees, and by a slow reduction of energy to nothing, but why is it taking so long?
